Joining UCLA & NHMLAC as a NSF Postdoctoral Fellow

I'm trading in the bourbon and derby for the sand and the sea! This month I began a three-year National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Biology (PRFB) jointly hosted by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and UCLA.

My fellowship explores one of the most overlooked colors in birds: white. Although white feathers appear simple, some are produced by remarkably complex nanostructures that remain poorly understood. Over the next three years, I'll be investigating how structural white coloration evolves, its functional significance, and the genomic mechanisms that produce it. I'm thrilled to be joining the labs of Allison Shultz and Stepfanie Aguillon and excited to see where this next chapter takes me.
